Tulsa Police arrested a 30-year-old man for felony drug possession and eluding after a pursuit early Sunday.

Police say although Marcus Dupree Smith told them he'd been unemployed for two years, he had over $1,000 in cash in his pocket and was driving a late model BMW.

The arresting officer said he saw Marcus Dupree Smith cutting off two lanes of traffic while turning and tried to make a traffic stop. Smith reportedly took off and led police on a chase through the 51st and Memorial area. Police say he threw something out the window at one point.

They finally got his BMW pulled over at a parking lot near 51st and Memorial just before 1 a.m.

"I observed that the driver Marcus Smith's fingers were covered in a white powder residue and that there was white powder on the driver seat and floor," the arrest report states. It tested positive for cocaine, according to police.

Police say they also found a pill bottle containing narcotic pain pills of a different strength than was on the label and over $1,000 in cash. Smith told officers he had been unemployed for two years.

Smith was arrested on felony drug possession complaints and eluding, after former conviction of a felony, littering and driving under suspension. He has served time for cocaine possession in the past, police say.

There was also a warrant out for his arrest in Washington County.
