Police have released the name of a man who died Monday night while walking his dogs near an Edmond church.

Some kids were playing basketball just before 8 p.m. at St. Monica's Catholic Church when they heard dogs barking in the soccer field next to the basketball court. When the kids took a closer look, they could tell there was something lying next to the dogs. One of the kids immediately called his mother.

The woman arrived at the church about 10 minutes later. As she walked closer, she realized there was a body in the field. She called 911.

As Edmond police officers investigated the scene, a woman arrived saying she was looking for her husband, 72-year-old Bob Pansze. She said Pansze had left their home approximately 90 minutes before to walk their dogs. It was part of his nightly routine.

Police soon concluded the man found dead in the field was Pansze. There were no signs of trauma to Pansze's body. His wife said he didn't have any medical issues, but was taking medication for high blood pressure.

Police believe Pansze likely died of natural causes. His body was taken to the Oklahoma County morgue.

Pansze was an employee of Roosevelt Middle School.
