Police say a 14-year-old girl managed to fight off three would-be kidnappers Thursday morning.
The girl was walking to school around 7:45 a.m. in the 500 block of W. Ford Street. About three blocks away from the school, a black, older model van pulled up next to her. She told police three men jumped out, grabbed her and forced her into the van.
The girl says she was able to fight her way out of the van and escape after just a few minutes. She ran to safety. The girl was not seriously hurt.
No one has been arrested in the case. Police say two of the suspects were white, and the third was Hispanic. Anyone with information about the attempted abduction should call police.
