An unregistered sex offender was arrested on the campus of Oklahoma State University, Thursday.
US Marshals, along with OSU campus police, arrested 24-year-old Christopher Deraleau for failing to register as a sex offender out of Ellis County, Texas.
A tip from the public led marshals from the sex offender branch in OKC began investigating the case. Marshals traveled to Stillwater and worked with campus police to determine Deraleau's whereabouts.
During their investigation, marshals learned that Deraleau was in a relationship with a female student at OSU. While conducting surveillance Deraleau was found getting into a vehicle on campus. Marshals and campus police then surrounded the vehicle, and the Deraleau was taken into custody without incident.
Deraleau is currently booked at the Payne County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Texas. He was previously convicted of sexually assaulting two teens, ages 14 and 15, in Texas back in February 2009. He served three years in jail for those convictions.
