A Walgreens pharmacist was arrested by Bartlesville police after admitting to stealing drugs from the store where he worked.

In an affidavit, police got a call from a Walgreens loss prevention officer Monday about missing medication from their store at 1920 South Washington Boulevard.

Bartlesville Police arrested Brandon Maydew, 29.

In the affidavit, the loss prevention officer said an audit showed a large amount of drugs missing from the store.

The affidavit states Maydew admitted he stole the pills "over a six month period for personal use." Maydew said he started taking the pills "as a form of self-medication" and that it turned into "a psychological dependence."

A store audit showed 2,033 pills including Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Hydrocodone and Hydromorphone missing.

Following a Tuesday court appearance Maydew was booked into the Washington County jail on a charge of larceny of a controlled and dangerous substance.

Court records show his next court appearance is set for December 6.
