A mother is accused of implicating her child in a plot to shoplift from Walmart in Chickasha.

According to Chickasha Police, 32-year-old Ratonia Poor was seen on surveillance cameras committing the crime around noon on November 10.

The video shows the mother walking out the store with her 12-year-old daughter following behind pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise. The items in the cart totaled $222.79 before tax.

Poor allegedly told police she was only exiting the store to get her food stamp card from her car and she intended to pay for the items. She claimed her daughter accidentally followed behind her.

"I can't believe anyone would make their kid do anything like that," Terrie Snyder remarked after her shopping trip at Walmart.

According to a police report taken at the scene, the 12-year-old told officers a different story.

"She was upset and visibly shaken and said she was following the orders of her mother," Chickasha Police Major Elip Moore said the girl also claimed she knew what they were doing was wrong.

Police then questioned Poor about the conflicting stories, that's when she told police "just arrest me already and take me to jail."

Poor's boyfriend, Michael Vansant is also said to be involved in the plot. Although he was not arrested because he left store after Poor was stopped by security.

Poor is now being held in the Grady County Jail on complaints of shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The child was also arrested at the scene and turned over to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
