A hearing has been delayed for a University of Arkansas student charged with two counts of first-degree manslaughter in a boat wreck in northeast Oklahoma in September.

John DeSelms of Tulsa was due in court this week in Delaware County but a delay was granted at the request of his attorney. The 22-year-old was charged with first-degree manslaughter in the May deaths of William Varner III of Texarkana and Rachel Swetnam of Grove.

Prosecutors allege DeSelms was operating a boat under the influence of alcohol when it crashed into a houseboat docked on Grand Lake.
