A Rogers State University professor was hit and killed trying to cross a highway near Chandler Tuesday night.

A Rogers State University professor was hit and killed trying to cross a highway near Chandler Tuesday night.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said David Tait was trying to walk across Highway 18, not far from the Turner Turnpike, just after 7 p.m. when he was hit.

Troopers say he was wearing all black clothing.

RSU says Dr. Tait was an associate professor of History and Political Science, who has been at the school since 1996.

The college says he was married with two children.
