An underground water line rupture in the town of Blanchard, Okla. Thursday left many downtown business people grumbling.
The pipe burst occurred on Blanchard's east side, where most of the businesses are located. Water was shut off between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. while crews worked to fix it.
Public Works Director Randy Dummitt says the city's water system is decades old and is decaying in spots. He says crews are working as fast as they can to fix the problems when they come up. However, downtown businesspeople like Rachelle Dorman would like to see more done.
Dorman works at a popular downtown hair salon. She says she had to cancel all of her appointments Thursday.
"When something like this is happening this frequently, it's a problem," she said. "It's all of the businesses around town that are being affected by this."
The city says it's been eight months since a leak like this has occurred.
