OOLOGAH, Oklahoma -

Winter weather sidelined many high school football games Friday night. Worries about icy roads even forced one team to turn around on its way to the game.

Many games will be played Saturday, but a few teams, like Metro Christian, played on. Parents and fans there were not fazed by the freezing temperature Friday night.

"I thought they would postpone it until tomorrow. I was hoping they would, anyway," one Hilldale fan said.

That's just what happened for some other teams.

The Oologah team was on its way to Oklahoma City until they had to turn around. Freezing rain was already heading up the Turner Turnpike.

"We're always going to put our kids' safety first, and that's our job as coaches. And that was probably the right decision, even though we all wanted to play tonight--probably the smart thing to do," said Oologah Head Coach Brandon Craig.

The team spent the rest of the evening looking over film and getting ready for a game on Saturday.

Jenks, Union, Pryor, Oologah and some other teams will play Saturday.
