A traffic stop led to a drug bust as a Canadian County deputy and his K-9 found high-grade marijuana hidden inside the trunk of a car.

The Sheriff's office says 29-year-old Justin Parker of Oklahoma City was arrested Saturday on I-40 just east of Calumet Road.

A deputy pulled over Parker's vehicle because he was following another car too closely. When the deputy was talking to Parker, he said he could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the car, so he decided to run his drug detector dog "Ruckus" around the car.

Ruckus alerted to the rear trunk area of the car. After searching the vehicle, the deputy found about five pounds of high grade quality of marijuana known as "Hydro."

The drugs were packaged in 13 plastic baggies, with six inside a blue Walmart bag, one inside a State Farm cloth bag, and the rest lying on the floor in the trunk of the rental car he was stopped in, according to the Sheriff's office.

"I'm extremely proud of Deputy Kevin Johnson and this arrest," said Randall Edwards, Canadian County Sheriff. "Kevin recently came to work here at the Sheriff's Office and only started working with his new drug dog this last month."

Parker was booked into the Canadian County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on Sunday after he was able to arrange for a $5,000 bond.
