Two Edmond police detectives received quite the surprise after pulling over a couple for running a red light Tuesday.

Instead of a ticket, the traffic stop turned into the beginning of a police escort to a nearby maternity ward. Colin and Delisha Johnson, were on their way to OU Medical Center in Edmond, but they didn't make it there before their baby decided it was time.

Seconds after her roadside delivery, mom pulled out her cell phone to capture her son's welcome to the world.

"I had his head, and [dad] finished catching the body," Delisha Johnson said.

Mom and dad raced through Edmond traffic. They were pulled over by two officers. It was a first for detectives Mike Chesley and Jimmy Gwartney of the Edmond Police Department. They provided an escort for about one mile.

"As soon as we saw him pull over, we knew that the baby was probably coming," said Chesley.

Dad told mom to stop pushing, but it was time. Moments later, medics were on scene and allowed dad to cut the umbilical cord. Colin and Delisha already have four girls. Their new baby boy is named Kingsley.

Kingsley was born about 10 days early. He weighs 5 lbs. 9 oz.
