Tulsa County deputies arrested two men after one of them grabbed a deputy's handgun and then tried to steal a vehicle Tuesday night.

Captain Paul Tryon, with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, said a deputy had stopped a car near Pine and Wheeling around 9:30 p.m. A woman walking her dog came up and reported that a car had almost run her over.

Tryon said the deputy found the car nearby. When the deputy approached the car a passenger got out and came toward the deputy. The deputy ordered the man back into the car, but the man kept coming toward him.

Captain Tryon says the deputy drew his gun and ordered the man back into the car. Tryon says the man grabbed the barrel of the gun and during the struggle the gun went off.

Tryon says the man ran away and was attempting to steal a pickup truck when a second deputy caught up with him and tasered him.

Deputies identified him as Vincent Gerace, 24. They arrested him and the driver of the car.

They booked Gerace into jail on complaints of assault and battery on a police officer, threatening a violent act, obstructing justice, resisting arrest and throwing human waste on a police officer.

He is being held in lieu of $32,000 bond. Jail records show he has a court appearance set for December 11.
