Folks down in Muskogee certainly want to stay off the roads if possible, as snow and sleet continue to fall Thursday night and into Friday.

The streets were packed with snow and trucks covered in ice Thursday.

"It was a fourth-inch on the front before I pulled it in here," said Muskogee resident Chuck Cooper.

Cooper's truck sat out in front of the bank he works for all afternoon, and by the time his work was done, he had more work cut out for him.

"I've been working on it for like 20 minutes it seems," Cooper said.

Cooper had his ice scraper ready.

But Roy Weaver was a little less prepared.

"I'm picking up supplies," he said. "I got everything but de-icer."

Drivers emptied the shelves of de-icer at the O'Reily Auto Parts in Muskogee. The store sold more than 500 cans on Thursday alone.

Keisha Crawford bought a couple of cans a few days ago, but realized she needed new wiper blades, so she stopped back in. Once they were on, she had everything she needed to hit the road.

"I've got my scrapers and my brakes and seatbelt ready," Crawford said.

She's going to need all of the above, because for a full five-plus hours, it was nothing but sleet Thursday evening.

"It stings It's so heavy it stings your face," Weaver said.

It's hard of your face, but it's even worse for the roads.

"It gets slicker by the minute, because the temperatures start to falling," said Muskogee resident Mike Smith.
