Oklahoma City Takes Down Hawks

Posted: Updated:

It wasn't pretty but the Thunder marked another one in the win column on the front end of a back-to-back on Tuesday.

Oklahoma City won its first road game against a team with a winning record this season in Atlanta, as the Thunder won its third-straight game overall with a 101-92 victory against the Hawks.

After shooting a season-best 61 percent against Indiana on Sunday, the Thunder came back down to earth a bit on 44.2 percent shooting and 4-of-18 from the 3-point line at Philips Arena.

Shots might not have been falling with as much frequency as they were the other night for OKC, but things were decidedly worse for the Hawks, who shot just 35.6 percent and 9-of-26 from 3.

Atlanta's starting five managed to shoot just 19-of-63 against an active Oklahoma City defense.

Three Thunder players put up double-doubles in the win, led by 30 points and 10 rebounds from Kevin Durant. KD shot 9-of-21 from the floor and was 11-of-15 from the foul line.

Serge Ibaka turned in a solid performance with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks against the Hawks' physical front line and, while it certainly wasn't a memorable shooting night for Russell Westbrook on 6-of-21 from the field, Russ was one board away from a triple-double. Westbrook finished with 14 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, also recording four steals in the process.

Reggie Jackson came off the bench to score 13 points, while Jeremy Lamb added 11 points.

Thabo Sefolosha did not play with a sprained ankle and rookie Andre Roberson had two points and five rebounds filling in for Sefolosha in the starting lineup.

Paul Millsap led the Hawks (11-11) with 23 points and 12 rebounds but struggled on just 5-of-18 shooting in his matchup against Ibaka.

Jeff Teague and Shelvin Mack added 17 a piece for Atlanta.

The win improved the Thunder to 16-4 on the season and 6-4 on the road. It also marked the Thunder's 10th win in its past 11 games.

Oklahoma City has a quick turnaround with a 7 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday at Memphis (10-10). The Grizzlies have won just three of their past eight games and are struggling without injured center Marc Gasol, who is out with a sprained MCL.
