Members of the Oklahoma County Bondsman Association are bailing out a metro family in need. With the association's help, a single mother of two is one step closer to having a Christmas for her children -- a Christmas that had been stolen away.

On Wednesday, Oklahoma County bondsmen David Dunn and Carol Knight took time out of their busy day of chasing people down for missed court dates to spread some holiday cheer.

In mid-November, Mallory Turner's northwest-side home was burglarized. All of her kids' Christmas gifts were stolen. News 9 reported on the crime nearly a month ago.

Members of the Oklahoma County Bondsman Association watched that broadcast and wanted to help. On Wednesday, members cut a check for $500 and brought it directly to Turner's front door.

"That's what the holiday season [is] all about … giving to others," said Turner. "It's a true blessing that somebody can help us out."

Turner says she lost roughly $6,000 in cash and belongings after the November burglary. Police have not made any arrests, but that's not holding Turner back from moving forward. Dunn and Knight tell News 9 they hope to make holiday giving a continued tradition for their organization by helping victims of crime.

"We see an opportunity and a need here, and we're just trying to step in and do what we can," Knight said.

Things are looking up for Turner, who lost her job in late October. She got a new job on Tuesday. Currently, members of the bondsman association are looking for one more family to help before Christmas Day.

If you have any information that might help police in their investigation, call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
