One man was injured and two pets were killed Thursday afternoon in an east Tulsa house fire.

Captain Ricky Powell, with Tulsa Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched just after 3 p.m. and arrived at the home in the area of 12900 East 28th Place to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

Powell said residents in the nearby homes were evacuated for a time while firefighters got it under control. He said the flames were in the garage, the rooms above it and in the attic.

One man inside the house was treated by EMSA at the scene for smoke inhalation. He's expected to be okay.
