Students from Edwards Elementary School in Oklahoma City boarded buses Thursday morning and headed to a special destination just in time for Christmas.
As the buses pulled up to the location, students saw some familiar faces, their SandRidge Energy mentors who read with the students every week. As the children looked out of the bus windows, they saw the huge Toys R Us sign and knew it was time to shop.
The students paired up with a SandRidge employee and hit the store. They went up and down every aisle looking for the perfect Christmas gifts. Many of the students, however, were not just shopping for themselves but for their families to make sure they all have Christmas gifts.
Margiznee Turner was one of those students. She spent about $12 on herself. The rest of her allotted $50 was spent on cousins and her older sisters.
All of the money was raised through donations from SandRidge employees totaling more than $20,000 For any student that missed Thursday's shopping spree, they'll be taken out for their turn on Monday.
