DAVIS, Oklahoma -

A young Oklahoma couple has made a desperate plea, asking for information about a recent break-in.

Someone broke into Andye and Derek Bowerman's home in Davis as they were out preparing for the big winter storm last week. They told News 9 the thieves stole their livelihood.

"It's sickening, you know, especially around the holidays that someone came into our house," said Andye Bowerman.

Someone pried open a window Dec. 5 while the family was running errands and ransacked the house, stealing a safe with the car title and their baby's social security card inside. The burglar also stole golf clubs, some hats and an iPod.

However, the Bowermans said the most upsetting loss is the one thing they depend on - Derek's tool belt with all his tools.

"I worked very hard to get them and they were all brand new and I was so proud of them, and I had anything you needed in my bag and then now I have to pretty much start all over," said Derek Bowerman.

Derek is a roofer and a framer. He is the family's only source of income and cannot work without his tools.

"They took our means of income, you know what I mean? As tough as it is anyway and then they take the one thing that we need to get by," said Andye.

The crook went through personal things, too, which is even creepier for Andye.

"They sat down at our couch, went through our family photos and they went through my actual underwear drawer," Andye Bowerman added.

Some people who heard about the break-in have donated a few used tools to Derek Bowerman. The family is grateful and hopes their sense of security returns soon, too.

"They stole a lot of Derek's stuff, but they stole my piece of mind," Andye explained.

The family did not have renter's insurance at the time of the break-in, but they do now. If you notice someone trying to sell a large amount of tools, the family has asked that you call the Davis Police Department.
