Tulsa Woman Grateful For Return Of Stolen Wedding Ring

A Tulsa woman says she's gotten a Christmas miracle. We told you about Nancy Gleeson a few weeks ago when her purse from stolen out of her shopping cart.

She was carrying her late husband's wedding ring in her wallet and desperately wanted it back.

That's exactly what happened.

My crime stories don't often have happy endings, but, this one does, thanks to the hard work of Tulsa Police Department's Eastside investigators.

Corporal Jeremy Nolen and Detective David Young made a house call so they can deliver good news to purse snatching victim Debbie Gleeson.

They recovered her late husband's wedding ring that she used to keep in her wallet. It went missing when her wallet was stolen last month.

"For now I'm wearing it," Debbie Gleeson said. "Thank you so much. I do believe in miracles and this is the best thing that could've happened."

Officers tracked the usage of Nancy's stolen credit cards which led them to David Blocker and Alissa Smith. They say Smith had actually been arrested shortly after the theft, for something else and had the stolen rings in her property bag at the jail, but then handed the rings off to a friend.

Officers tracked down that friend who hadn't had time to get rid of the rings yet.

"It's very rewarding when we get property back to them, especially when it means a lot, you can't put a value on it," said Corporal Jeremy Nolen.

"I am so thankful. This is the most important thing out of everything that was lost. This is the only thing that really mattered to me," said crime victim Debbie Gleeson.

Debbie believes our news story coupled with the officers' hard work made this moment possible and to say thank you, she gave us a big hug and each a container of some homemade goodies, but her tears of joy said it all.

"I thank you all so much, I just don't know what a wonderful Christmas present this is," she said.

Blocker and Smith are still in jail Monday night. Records show she has previous convictions and other charges pending right now, but, neither has been charged in this case yet.
