McLaurin Named Second Team AVCA All-America

Oklahoma volleyball senior Sallie McLaurin was named Second Team All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

University of Oklahoma volleyball senior Sallie McLaurin was tabbed as a Second Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as announced at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet in Seattle, the site of the NCAA Final Four, Wednesday afternoon.

McLaurin earned Third Team honors in 2012 and Honorable Mention in 2013. This marks the eighth time the Sooners have been represented on the AVCA All-America Team, all coming since 2006. Last week, McLaurin received All-Southwest Team honors from the AVCA, marking her third straight All-Region honor.

She helped Oklahoma to a 24-8 season, including an appearance in a fifth straight NCAA Tournament and a third place finish in the Big 12. McLaurin led the Sooners with 3.78 kills per set and finished atop the league with a .423 hitting percentage.

For her career, McLaurin finished seventh in the OU record book with 1,351 kills and seven shy of the single season record with 438 this year. She owns the team's block assist record with 529 and is second all-time with 633 total blocks, also seven shy of the overall record.
