Wild Fire Threat Thursday, Cold Front Heading To OK Friday

A very warm day Thursday will combine with a lot of wind and low humidity to create a wild fire threat in western Oklahoma. Thursday will also be the last day for a while to see highs in the 60's.

Canadian air will rush into the state Friday bringing a 35 to 40 degree change for the colder! A storm system on the west coast will move across the southern Rockies and bring rain chances starting Friday.

OK. So we have a strong Canadian shot of air and rain chances at the same time. There will be a battle right around 32 degrees for making things wet or icy. Be alert for ICE late Friday into Saturday morning when air temps could be below 32°! Some areas could pick up about a quarter of an inch of ice.

Temps are expected to be above freezing much of Saturday so the threat of freezing rain will diminish and a healthy dose of rain sets in. Northwest Oklahoma has the best opportunity for winter weather as this will be the area with a colder profile for sleet and snow.

Drier air will shift up into the state late Saturday and stop the precip for much of the state. Northwest parts will keep seeing snow during this time and should allow some areas near the panhandle to pick up close to six inches.
