Bixby Woman Hurdles Cancer Scare, Wins $10,000 In Same Week

A Green Country woman is full of Christmas cheer a little early this year.

A few days ago, Carla Wood's doctor called to tell her that she is cancer free.

And as a bonus, she woke up Friday morning to find she won $10,000 in the Buy Bixby contest.

She claimed her $10,000 prize Friday morning at Doc's Country Mart.

For years, Carla's been participating in Buy Bixby, which offers incentives for shopping locally. She expected the same outcome in 2013.

"Grateful that I listened to my friend not to throw the tickets away because I almost did," Wood said.
