A huge winter storm system is moving across Oklahoma Saturday, bringing freezing rain and coating tree limbs, cars, and power lines with thick ice.

It has not only affected Oklahomans, causing power outages, hazardous road conditions, and flight delays, but also affected some of our animal friends.

A woman found a hawk in Oklahoma City with its wings frozen.

Linda Powell with the Bethel Foundation said she found the hawk at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday. At first, Powell said she thought it was a statue because it wasn't moving.

Powell said when she got closer, she realized the hawk is alive. However, it couldn't take off.

While keeping a close eye on the hawk, Powell contacted the Oklahoma City Animal Control hoping to get the hawk the help it needs.

Animal Control officials say the hawk also had a broken wing. They are taking him into rehabilitation before setting him free.

Powell said Animal Control also told her that this breed of hawk was not from this part of the country.

According to News 9 Chief Meteorologist David Payne, snow will soon begin to push across central, western, northern Oklahoma. The northwestern part of the state is expected to get the most amount of snow Saturday afternoon.
