A Coweta man on Saturday shot and killed his brother then turned the gun on himself, according to Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert.

Colbert called the murder and attempted suicide a holiday season tragedy.

Colbert said Randall Grigg Jr. and his brother Jeremiah Roberts had been drinking in a home in the 25000 block of East 121st Street South when they got into an argument. It escalated to the point that Grigg got a rifle and shot his 32-year-old brother several times, killing him, the sheriff said.

Grigg, 33, then reportedly shot himself in front of his wife and his nine children, ages 1 through 14.

"My heart goes out to these poor children in the home that unfortunately had to witness this event," Colbert said in a news release."I am working to have some mental health services made available to this family in the aftermath of this most unfortunate event."

Grigg was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he is listed in critical condition, according to Colbert.

The sheriff's news release notes that six of the children involved are Grigg's biological children.
