Good Morning and Merry Christmas.

Our weather is in decent shape for the next several days with a noticeable warming trend by the end of the week.  I'll keep the discussion short and to the point this morning!

This morning a weak boundary is moving across northern OK.  Some freezing fog and low stratus cloud cover will be common near and behind the boundary for the next few hours.  Temps are below freezing across most of the northern half of the state and some freezing fog is possible.   A few flurries will fall from the low cloud deck but like yesterday morning, most locations will remain void of this very light precip.

The clouds will clear later today with more sunshine and relatively warmer air but the exact timing of this clearing is problematic.  Obviously, if the clouds stick around long enough this will keep highs in the upper 30s to near 40.  Some short term data suggest some clouds will linger through the midday period with some sunshine after the noon hour.  As I type this discussion, we're mostly clear across NEOK, but the clouds are expected to develop and move into the area over the next few hours.

Thursday a surface ridge of high pressure will be near eastern OK allowing for variable and light winds.  Lows will begin the 20s and follow with highs in the upper 40s Thursday with more sunshine.

Friday the southwest winds will increase and this will signal a warm up.  The afternoon highs will move to near 50 to 55 with Saturday afternoon readings approaching the upper 50s to near 60 degree mark by midday.  A strong cold front will sweep across the state pre-dawn Sunday bringing gusty north winds and highs back into the 30s north and lower 40s south.  A few flurries may be possible across far eastern OK Sunday morning to midday but this chance remains very low.

The longer range data continue to support a stronger system nearing the state by the New Year's holiday.  It's unclear if this system will be a wintry weather producer at this point.  The GFS keeps the system more southward while the EURO brings it closer to the state.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 42 recorded at 4:35pm.

The normal daily average high is 48 and the low is 28.

The daily records include a high of 73 from 1922 and a low of -2 from 1983.

You'll find me on Facebook and twitter.

I'll be discussing the forecast on numerous Radio Oklahoma News Network affiliates across the state through the noon hour today.

Thanks for reading the Wednesday Christmas Morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
