Tulsa Police arrested a man after they watched him break into a grocery store near 11th and Garnett and steal three donation bags full of cash early Friday.

It happened at the Northeast Plaza Shopping Center at about 1 a.m.

Officers were watching the store because of several recent burglaries in the area. They say they saw Robert Conklin, 24, and another man casing businesses at the shopping center.

They say they saw Conklin break the glass in a front door of the store and go inside.

Police say Conklin climbed out through the broken window with the donation bags and an officer chased him to a Sonic restaurant and arrested him. The officer said he had to pull his handgun to get Conklin to stop running.

EMSA paramedics treated Conklin for cuts on his ankles police say he received by climbing through the broken window.

Officers recovered the donation bags. They say the business owner identified them and said they had been taken from the area near his cash register.

Police booked Conklin into the Tulsa County jail on two complaints of second-degree burglary.

They arrested the other man on outstanding warrants.
