Ingredients
1 package dried black eyed peas
4 slices bacon, sliced thin
1 onion, chopped
1 cup fresh Braum's salsa
1 jalapeño, chopped
3 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
cilantro, garnish
Instructions
Here is a little tip to get your peas ready if you forgot to soak them overnight: Place the dried black eyed peas in a microwave safe bowl. Fill with water and then cover completely with plastic wrap. Microwave on high for 14 minutes. Drain. (just like soaking them overnight but in 15 minutes!)
In a large pot sauté bacon and onion. Pour in the drained beans and then add in 3 cups of broth, salsa, salt and pepper and jalapeño for more heat!. Cover with a lid for one hour and cook till tender! Garnish with cilantro.
