PRYOR, Oklahoma -

A new college campus is boosting educational opportunities for thousands of residents in Mayes County.

Rogers State University celebrated the opening of its new campus in Pryor on Tuesday.

David Stewart, Chief Administrative Officer, said, "From a strategic point of view, this campus will be the cornerstone of future development for Mid-America."

The $10 million dollar building is now part of the Mid-America Industrial Park.

There, it joins the OSU Institute of Technology and Northeastern Technology Center.

Officials say that makes it the place to go to learn work-ready skills.

Larry Rice, RSU President, said, "We're the missing link to having a complete educational opportunity in the park. It helps them recruit; it also helps them provide for their employers. On any given day I'm told there are 100 jobs vacant in this park."

RSU has had a presence in Pryor since 1986, operating as Rogers State College on the Whitaker Education and Training Center grounds.

The first classes at the new Pryor campus start Monday.
