Oklahoma Enveloped In Winter Dreariness

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Thick cloud cover, fog, and drizzle will continue Wednesday evening into the overnight.

Temperatures are expected to stay above freezing until after 10 P.M. for most of the state; the exception is far east and southeast where temperatures have been at or below 32° most of the day. Roads are already slick and hazardous from Sallisaw down to Idabel due to light freezing rain.

As temperatures drop below freezing Wednesday night across all of Oklahoma, there will be an opportunity for light freezing drizzle and freezing fog. This will lead to some slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses. Fog could be very dense for the morning commute limiting visibility to less than a 1/2 mile at times.

The lingering drizzle will move off to the east by midday Thursday, and highs will climb into the low 40s. Our next opportunity for rain will arrive overnight Thursday into Friday, and this system will be much warmer so no frozen precipitation is expected.
