Multiple sources say Texas Tech has rejected quarterback Baker Mayfield's appeal to transfer to Oklahoma without restriction.
Mayfield, who was a walk-on freshman this season, started the first five games of the season for the Red Raiders but an injury forced him to miss time and eventually stuck him back in the competition for starting quarterback. It was a competition Mayfield thought he'd already won.
So after the regular season ended Mayfield announced he planned to enroll and walk-on at Oklahoma. The problem being the NCAA transfer rule and Texas Tech's ability to limit Mayfield's transfer locations.
So as it stands, if Baker Mayfield wants to play at Oklahoma, he'll have to sit out a year and loses a year of eligibility.
