Thieves reportedly broke into the West Tenkiller Volunteer Fire Department and stole about $4,500 worth of equipment.

Keith Lowe, with the Tenkiller Volunteer Fire Department said that thieves broke into the station and stole rescue tools, 12 gallons of gas from fire trucks and repair tools as well.

Lowe said that the equipment being stolen doesn't hurt their ability to do their jobs, but it slows them down.

The volunteer department operates off of county funds and membership dues. Having to replace the tools is big financial burden to them.

No damage was done to the fire trucks themselves and Lowe has secured the building.
