Oklahoma State sophomore point guard Marcus Smart has been named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 12, it was announced Monday by the league office.

It is his second honor of the season and the third of his career.

Smart averaged a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, leading Oklahoma State to two victories last week. He scored 24 points with 11 boards for his first double-double of the year in an 87-74 win over Texas. He followed with another double-double in the 73-72 victory at West Virginia, recording 22 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. Smart was 12-of-26 (46.2%) from the floor in the two games, including 3 of 6 (50%) from three-point range and 16 of 20 (80%) from the free-throw line. He added 10 assists, seven steals, two blocked shots and just three turnovers in 72 minutes.

The preseason All-American was also named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Nov. 25 for his 39-point performance against nationally ranked Memphis. He was the conference POW last February for his game at Kansas, and was a four-time Rookie of the Week as a freshman. Senior Markel Brown served as the Big 12's Player of the Week earlier this season following his 23-point, 11-rebound game against nationally ranked Colorado.

Oklahoma State is 14-2 on the season, including 2-1 in league action and hosts the TCU Horned Frogs on Wednesday  at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
