Tulsa Foundation Awards $8.6 Million In Grants To Over 100 Social Service Agencies

George Kaiser Family Foundation announced Monday it will provide more than $8.6 million in basic services grants to more than 100 Tulsa-area social service agencies.

George Kaiser Family Foundation announced Monday it will provide more than $8.6 million in basic services grants to more than 100 Tulsa-area social service agencies.

In a news release, the foundation said more than $4.5 million will support human service organizations and $1.5 million will support community health initiatives.

"These organizations provide critical services to Tulsans who struggle with a variety of needs, including food, health, education, housing and basic needs," said Ken Levit, executive director of George Kaiser Family Foundation.

"The foundation is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in Tulsa, and we are pleased to present these grants to assist organizations as they work to improve the lives of Tulsans in need in 2014 and beyond."

Some agencies receiving funding include Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Emergency Infant Services, Parent Child Center of Tulsa, Family & Children's Services, Mental Health Association of Tulsa, Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Youth Services of Tulsa, Camp Fire USA Green Country Council, Inc., Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc., Greenwood Cultural Center, Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma, Health Outreach Prevention Education (H.O.P.E.), Goodwill Industries of Tulsa, Inc. and Oklahoma Project Woman, Inc.
