After mild temperatures dominated the weekend and the beginning of this week, the arctic cold returns in two waves. The first wave arrives tonight and the second wave arrives Thursday morning.
Highs Tuesday will drop back into the low and mid 40s across the area with 10 to 20 mph winds, so it will feel colder than the 40s despite sunny skies.
Temps will moderate on Wednesday and make it back into the 50s just ahead of a stronger cold front.
Thursday morning, lows will fall into the upper teens and lower 20s with single digit wind chills. Thursday afternoon, most of the viewing areas will stay in the upper 20s or at least below freezing with blustery north winds. Winds will relax a bit Thursday night into Friday morning, dropping lows into the lower and mid teens.
Highs will stay chilly on Friday before 50s return for the weekend. The extended forecast keeps rain away from Oklahoma. Fire danger will stay elevated through the extended forecast.
