A traffic stop on the west side of Oklahoma City yielded a huge pot bust.
According to a police report, 48-year-old Keith Norton was pulled over on Interstate 40, west of the Outlet Shoppes at Oklahoma City, due to an improper lane change.
The officer on scene stated that after making contact with Norton, he became suspicious with some of the answers he was getting.
According to the officer, Norton claimed to be the owner of a clothing line and was in OKC on business trying to locate buyers. He did not have hotel reservations and no business contacts. He also told the officer he was going to the outlet mall, but had already passed it on the highway.
The officer also noticed that Norton's vehicle was a rented 2013 Mercedes Benz that was supposed to be returned to a rental company in Las Vegas on Jan. 14, the day of the traffic stop.
Finally the officer asked Norton if he could search the vehicle. Norton refused and the officer called for a narcotic K9 unit. The K9 alerted officers to the trunk of the car, where police discovered six duffle bags and one suitcase, all containing approximately 142 pounds of marijuana combined.
Norton was then taken into custody on one count of drug trafficking. Details on his bond have not been released at this time.
