Posted: Updated:
SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -

The suspect involved in a standoff with police has surrendered.

The standoff began after a high-speed chase in Shawnee. It ended after officers employed stop sticks, about three miles west of the Grand Casino.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputies were also involved in the standoff.

The suspect's vehicle was stopped in the median, between westbound and eastbound I-40. It is still unclear why the chase began.

The suspect handed his gun out of the window to a cop then exited the passenger side of the truck and stood there while cops cuffed him.

Authorities have not identified the suspect at this time.
