Officers and homeowners in two southwest Oklahoma City neighborhoods are on alert after getting reports of a possible prowler knocking on doors and peeking through windows.

In the Country Place subdivision near S.W. 134th and Penn, there have been two reports in the past three days of someone prowling the neighborhood.

But so far no one has been caught.

David Hardy was watching his grandchildren last night, and said he was in the backyard when he heard someone trying to get inside.

"And I just heard some noise back over in here and I just said who is that," recalled Hardy. "And I pretty much heard a car take off right away."

Hardy said his son had a break in before and was glad that whoever was trying to break in this time decided to leave. He had no idea a couple of neighbors along S.W. 135th Pl. had the same experience and called police.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office said they also got a report of it happening in the Lake Ridge addition near S.W. 119th and May on Thursday night.

"We were just sitting at home, and I heard a noise at the door," Scott Ferree said. That's when Ferree noticed someone peeking in his front window.

"I just looked over and saw a tall figure with the cap on, and they just walked away."

Ferree said he called police and is glad the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is now putting extra patrols in the neighborhood.

"We know from our neighborhood association alerts that there had been a lot of people looking in doors and windows seeing if they could see anything," Ferree said.

He just hopes the prowlers are caught, or at least scared enough to stay out of his neighborhood.

The Sheriff's Office is also increasing patrols in the Country Place addition. They have also sent out texts and emails to Nixle subscribers in the neighborhoods.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone who has had a similar encounter to call them or 911 immediately. If you would like to get Nixle text alerts about what's happening crime wise in your neighborhood, just text your zip code to 888-777.
