OKC Dad Arrested For Driving Drunk With Kids In Car

An Oklahoma City father was arrested Wednesday night after officers say he drove drunk while his two young children were in the car.

According to police, at about 9:30 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic trouble at S.W. 89th and Western. As the officer arrived at the scene, a car was parked in the grass on the northeast side of the intersection.

The officer approached the vehicle on foot. That's when the driver drove back onto S.W. 89th, going eastbound in the westbound lanes.

The officer then began pursuing the suspect vehicle. It eventually stopped in a parking spot at an apartment complex at S.E. 70th and Santa Fe, according to police.

The driver, later identified as 28-year-old Christopher Anderson, stepped out of the vehicle, but police said he was unsteady on his feet and had red, watery eyes. The officer said he could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Anderson's person.

Anderson also did not have a valid driver's license. He reportedly admitted that he had been drinking for several hours before he got behind the wheel. He was taken into custody.

According to police, there were two children in the back seat of the vehicle, ages 5 and 3. They were released to their mother.

Anderson faces several charges, including child endangerment by DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under revocation, failure to keep right of center, and failure to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle.
