Broken Arrow Police arrested a domestic abuse suspect after a standoff that lasted several hours.

Police said the incident began at a home in the 6300 block of South 116th East Avenue at 7:50 p.m. A woman left the home and went next door and called police.

Police say Jack Campbell, 39, was outside his home when they arrived, but ran inside and refused to come out.

Officer called in the department's special operations team and asked neighbors to leave their homes as a precaution.

Police fired gas into the home the home twice, but they say Campbell would not surrender.

The special operations team entered the home at about 1:40 a.m. and found Campbell hiding in the attic. 

Police arrested him on complaints of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and resisting arrest.

Police said the victim was treated at the scene.
