A Mustang Police chase that wound up in Oklahoma City ended with a dangerous discovery.

It started as a shots-fired call on Thursday night at the Wal-Mart in Mustang. Police said Justin Smallwood was in his car in the parking lot and shot at another vehicle with three people inside.

Police arrived and said Smallwood led them on a chase that ended near I-40 and Council Rd. Officers said they found several high-capacity weapons and ammunition inside Smallwood's car.

"The subject was wearing a vest loaded with extra magazines for both the assault rifle and handgun," said Mustang Police Chief Chuck Foley.

Foley said Smallwood had a semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun, as well as a Glock with a high-capacity magazine and a .45-caliber Colt with a high-capacity magazine. No one was injured in the parking lot shooting.

Police said they are not sure what Smallwood was doing at Wal-Mart or his motive, but they are looking into the possibility that he was kicked out of the store and got mad.

"What bothers me the most about Mr. Smallwood is why he was so well armed and so well equipped with ammunition and what really was his intent," asked Foley.

It was a wild night, which residents said is rare and surprising for such a low-crime city.

"I probably slept through it, but good job for police, said Mustang Resident Charlie Simons.

Smallwood's record in Oklahoma only revealed a traffic ticket. He is now facing felony charges of shooting with intent to kill and eluding police.
