NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Three people are in critical condition after a four-car crash on Highway 9 in Norman, Sunday afternoon.

According to the Norman Police Department, a Dodge Ram pickup was heading westbound on highway 9, around 3:40 p.m., when the driver went left of center for an unknown reason and collided head-on with an eastbound Pontiac Grand Prix and a Suzuki Grand Villa Mini Van, also heading east.

A Chevy pickup heading eastbound also suffered severe damage by debris from the initial crash. An official cause of the crash has not been released, but police believe that the driver of the Dodge was likely impaired.

The crash is under investigation by the Norman/OUPD Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team (CIRT).
