Tulsa Man Released From Hospital, Booked Into Jail

TULSA, Oklahoma - A home invasion suspect is booked into the Tulsa jail three months after he was accused of committing the crime. Court records show 19-year-old Edward Wayne Vanderlinden was first taken to a hospital and placed in the intensive care unit after the November 9, 2013, incident.

It happened at a home just a few blocks south of Tulsa Central High School. The victim told police that Vanderlinden knocked on his door at about 8:30 p.m. When the man opened the door, Vanderlinden pointed a gun at his head.

The victim said that he was able to knock the gun from Vanderlinden's hand and then sent him to the ground with another blow. A friend that was also at the home helped the victim hold Vanderlinden until police arrived.

The victim also told police he looked out his front door and saw a dark-colored vehicle speed away after he and his friend subdued Vanderlinden.

Police say Vanderlinden was armed with a fully loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun when he entered the victim's home.

At the time of the crime, police said Vanderlinden was under the influence of a drug. They weren't sure if it was injuries from the struggle, drug use, some other medical problem  - or all three - that landed Vanderlinden in ICU.

Vanderlinden is charged with one count of attempted armed robbery.
