Thunderstorms Possible Wednesday, High Wildfire Threat Thursday

Tonight the winds will relax and come around out of the north at 5 to 15 mph. Lows will drop into the 30s and 40s with partly cloudy skies.

A storm system will move through Kansas on Wednesday bringing a slight chance of rain to Oklahoma.

Throughout the day Wednesday, look for highs in the mid and upper 60s with a strong southeast wind. The southeast breeze will help increase moisture across the state and lower the fire threat just a little bit in eastern Oklahoma.

A few light showers are possible in eastern Oklahoma throughout the afternoon hours. As the upper level storm moves by late Wednesday, rain chances will increase in the northeast. A few thunderstorms are possible in the evening hours.

The main threat with any storms that do develop will be small hail and gusty winds. The strongest storms and heaviest rain this go around will be northeast of Oklahoma in parts of Kansas and Missouri.

Thursday, the winds will be extremely strong behind a strong cold front. Winds will be out of the north at 20 to 40 mph early Thursday giving us one of the highest threats for wildfires we have had so far this year.
