Intolerance, be it religious, cultural or racial intolerance is one of the most prevalent problems in the world today. Indeed these problems can be found in various places all over the world, from small towns to the largest metropolis. In Barricades author Avia has written an eye-opening read that tackles the issues of intolerance set in the back-drop of a college campus mystery. Barricades is based on a true story that follows a young womans university experience while it unveils the socio religio cultural barricades that need dismantling.
Barricades is a highly engrossing story that follows the tumultuous events in the life of four college friends. What starts out as a friendly get together soon becomes a hunt for the truth as a crime is committed within the campus, and one of the four friends is the prime suspect. This is a thrilling crime story that will appeal to readers as it is informative, interesting and educational and leaves the reader to decide "who dunnit". Readers will be taken from present to past and present to past again arousing curiosity and transporting readers to the locations and events surrounding the crime. The descriptive writing, and authors style with a journalistic start, listing news headlines, arouses reader interest.
It is also an in-depth look at the inter-cultural and religious situation of the world, today. With an emphasis on the importance of compassion and understanding in order to resolve conflicts. Barricades is undoubtedly a compelling read.
