TULSA COUNTY, Oklahoma -

It's been a year since the Super Bowl of bass fishing came to Grand Lake. This year's Bassmaster Classic is at Guntersville Lake, Alabama, in the Heart of Dixie.

One of Oklahoma's own is hoping to reel in the $300,000 grand prize. Edwin Evers is one of bass fishing's MVPs and one of the favorites at this year's classic. He eats, drinks, sleeps, and breathes fishing.

This is Edwin's 13th Classic; his best finish so far is fifth place.

Jason Christie may love coaching basketball, but his true passion is bass fishing. He placed seventh at last year's classic, and the experts believe he'll do even better this year.

"It's something I never thought would really be a career, but it was always in the back of my mind that that's what I wanted to do," Christie said.

Tommy Biffle has his sights set on a tournament win too. The veteran fisherman has been to 18 Classics. He's finished second twice, and hopes his 19th Classic will finally be the one.

"I need that before I quit," Biffle said.

Fred Roumbanis grew up fishing the California delta, but calls Bixby home now. The young gun has only been to three Classics, and missed the cut for last year's tournament.

"I feel like I still gotta lot to learn, but at the same time, it's uh, it's a part of me, it's a part of who I am," Roumbanis said. "Put all money aside, the classic is the reason I'm here, doing this."

The 2014 Bassmaster Classic is the first for Chris Jones. The Bokoshe fisherman still counts on his job at a Fort Smith machine shop to make a living, but knows a win in Alabama would change his family's life.

"You gotta go with the sense that you're going to try to win, it's an all or nothing tournament anyway. They don't remember second place in the classic," Jones said.
