BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -

A Broken Arrow assistant swim coach has been fired after he was arrested early Sunday for reportedly participating in a drug sale to a 17-year-old girl.

Kameron Killam, an adjunct assistant swim coach since 2011, was one of two men arrested in a car parked in the 1400 block of South Main Street in Broken Arrow at about 1:30 a.m. The second man, Ryan Wayne Johnson, was also taken into custody on the same complaint.

Police say they were patrolling Main Street after the town's midnight curfew when they spotted a black car parked at a place that is known to be a meeting place for drug users. The arresting officer said Killam was seated alone in the front seat, and there were two people in the back seat of the car.

The officer said he could immediately smell the odor of burnt marijuana when he stopped to talk with the three people. He had Killam get out of the car and saw a baggie containing marijuana buds in plain view in the driver's door pocket, a set of digital scales with white powder on them on the driver's side floorboard, the report states.

Killam and Johnson both reportedly admitted to selling marijuana to the 17-year-old girl who was seated in the back with Johnson. The report states Johnson told officers he had acted as a go-between for the girl and Killam, who reportedly admitted to selling the pot.

Johnson said he wanted to be in a relationship with the girl, so he facilitated her purchase by picking her up at her home to do a drug transaction.

Killam, 24, and the 25-year-old Johnson were both booked into Tulsa County Jail on complaints of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Killam has since been released on bond.

The arrest report does not say what happened to the juvenile female. Police don't believe she was known to Killam or had ever been an athlete on his team.

BA Public Schools released the following statement on Sunday evening:

"On Sunday, February 23, 2014 it was verified by the Broken Arrow Police Department that Kameron Killam was arrested for possession and intent to distribute marijuana early Sunday morning.

Mr. Killam is an adjunct assistant swim coach for Broken Arrow Public Schools and has been with the school district since 2011. Mr. Killam is not a classroom teacher.

Upon verification of his arrest, Broken Arrow Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jarod Mendenhall terminated Mr. Killam's employment immediately. The termination letter was drafted, signed and mailed to Mr. Killam's residence on Sunday, February 23, 2014.

Dr. Mendenhall stated, "It is expected that all of our employees model the highest level of character and integrity for our students, no matter where they are. There are no excuses for this type of behavior."

Since this is an employee issue, BAPS will not be granting interviews on this particular situation. The current head varsity swim coach will resume all responsibilities for the team and a replacement will not be immediately hired."
