Road Conditions Deteriorating On Interstate 40 Near Checotah

Winter weather has left rapidly deteriorating travel conditions in McIntosh County. The winter storm has included freezing rain, snow and thundersleet according to News On 6 storm spotter Darren Stephens.

The narrow band of winter weather is headed to Adair County as of about noon.

Stephens said a trucker on eastbound Interstate 40 escaped injury when he overturned Sunday morning. The one-vehicle wreck took place about 5 miles east of Checotah.

Crews responded to the wreck but say they are planning to return Tuesday to clean it up.
