Right now, police are investigating a break-in at a south Oklahoma City business.

The thief not only braved the frigid weekend temperatures but managed to break through some heavy duty security measures.

A thief broke into a secure fenced in lot off Macarthur and Reno at Chappell Supply and took a trailer and power washer worth more than $26,000.

"He set there and cut the top of it," said Roy Chappell, owner of Chappell Supply which custom builds pressure washers and recycles wash water for companies. "He then tied onto it with his truck - you can see him tie onto it."

Chappell said the gate wouldn't budge, so the thief went after the next line of defense, the chain and lock surrounding the gate.

The thief managed to cut through a heavy duty tungsten carbide chain, which no regular saw can cut through.

Fortunately, Roy has surveillance cameras that captured the whole thing.

First thing you see is the truck pulling into the parking lot, but the thief was smart and covered up his license plate. But he wasn't so smart trying to get over the fence.

"He fell off the fence three times trying to crawl over it," Chappell said.

Chappell said the thief spent a good bit of time cutting his way in. He even went away for an hour before returning with the right tool.

"It just really aggravates ya," said Chappell. "Really would like to get these people off the street."

Chappell is just surprised nobody noticed the thief as he pulled away.

"And I would think somebody would have noticed it, because none of the equipment or tanks were fastened down," Chappell added.

Chappell said he just wants this guy caught before he strikes again.

Chappell said he's offering a pretty heavy duty reward to catch the person responsible - $5,000 to the person who finds him and turns him in. Call OKC Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
