Chilly Weather Hits As Oklahoma Prepares To 'Spring Forward'

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Winter weather makes another stop on Saturday, as a cold front moved in during the morning hours and is leaving a chill in its path.

Some post frontal precipitation will develop off and on through the day Saturday and won't end until around midnight, according to News On 6 meteorologist Dick Faurot.

Wind chill values will be in the 20s, and cloudy skies, brisk northerly winds, snowflakes and sleet may mix in with the rain northwest of Interstate 44. Rain showers are possible off and on throughout the day.

Faurot says surface temperatures will be in the upper 30s, so it will be a cold rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Chautauqua County, Kan.

The more northwestern counties and into Kansas may see a wintry mix or perhaps some brief flurries late in the day, but there should be little to no accumulation, Faurot said.

While Tulsa may not be soaking, according to Meteorologist Mike Grogan, we have seen just over a half-inch of rain in the area.

As Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday and signals the unofficial start to spring, temperatures are expected to warm to the 50s, and Monday should see temperatures in the 70s.

"Tuesday will be another transition day as another cold front will be arriving and its timing will make a huge difference in the afternoon temperatures," Faurot said. "Lots of sunshine and SW winds will push locations ahead of the front into the 70s, but northerly winds behind the front and mostly cloudy skies will keep those locations in the 50s. The latest and greatest data suggests the front will be arriving late in the day, so most of us should make it into the 70s again before the colder air arrives."
